Uhhh... wha?

This story raised an eyebrow, so I thought I'd share it.

Health Care Bill Exempts Amish
CBS
Reported by: Jenni Joyce

"Get health care coverage, or get a fine. The individual health care mandate is one component of the federal health care reform bill. It would take effect in 2014.

One group, however, has received an exemption: the Amish."

Okay, not only do you have to be a certain religion to have the freedom to choose not to pay taxes on or to have healthcare, but not to pay a fine as well. Yes, a fine. Think about that. A fine. If you don't get healthcare coverage by a certain mandate starting tomorrow, you will pay a fine for not being covered.

How in the hell can people still support this bill?

Navy Corpse man? Obama says it twice during a speech read off the teleprompter. Um, yeah. It's time for a new president. This one's broken.

Some people try to shrug this off by saying that Obama was never in the military, so therefore he couldn't ever pronounce the word correctly. Really? I never served in the military and I not only know how to pronounce corpsman, but I know that a corpse is a dead body, and a corpsman is a living person, unless killed. Then he/she will become a corpse. Man.

I will no longer be supporting Barack Obama in any circumstance. As you may know, he's decided to go for the 50 + 1 votes, which is against the US Constitution.

Remember, he's going for the 50 + 1 votes.

"You've got to break out of what I call the 50-plus-one pattern of presidential politics, which means you have nasty primaries where everyone's disheartened, then you divide the country 45 percent on one side, 45 percent on the other, 10 percent in middle, all of whom live in Florida and Ohio," he said. "Then maybe you eke out a victory of 50 plus one, but you can't govern.... you get all the perks , Air Force One [ laugh] but you can't deliver on healthcare. We are not going to pass Universal healthcare with a 50 plus 1 strategy ...or energy [ reform]......unless you have a working majority"

-President Barack H. Obama - Oct. 2009

I'm sorry, but I can't take this president serious any longer. I'm glad we finally have a black president, but that's about the extent of his presidency. I'm ready for a new president.

This Christmas, as I stand in front of the decorated tree in my living room, I can’t help but think back to the previous Christmases at the last place I lived. The floors were hollow and the furniture would wobble when I’d walk by them. The incredibly dated 1960’s linoleum creaked when I’d walk on it with my socks on a cold winter night. The neighbor’s door would slam shut and scare me out of my seat. And my toilet had a tricky delicate flush with black mold growing over the walls due to a lack of ventilation. But with all of its imperfections, I still miss the place.

I miss the uneven Berber carpet, my creepy mirrored closet doors, and those dusty drapes that had developed holes far before I moved in. I also miss the address. 1331 Rose Avenue. It sounds superstitious, negative and a little threatening. I loved it.

And I enjoyed writing it on my bills, and typing it online and in story submission e-mails. It was perfect, and it was fitting. But, I had to move on.

I now live in a housing track. A neighborhood. My house has an attached garage, hardwood floors with concrete foundation. Carpet in the bedrooms. Tile in the bathrooms. And a fireplace that has not yet been used and will never be as long as I’m the owner.

Nevertheless, my house still has its imperfections. It kind of seems like to me, a house without something wrong with it isn’t a home. You know, a place to get comfortable in. The kitchen counter tiles are cracked in a few places. I had to replace the kitchen chandelier that hung out of the ceiling, as if someone had pulled down on it as hard as they could. The front room was crimson red. Three of six doors had holes punched through them.

Most of these are fixed, except for the kitchen counter tiles and a few other things. But, I don’t know, it seems like perfection, at least to me, is an ugly word. Perfection lacks personality. It lacks relaxation, home, comfort. I don’t want to live in a cold mausoleum, where things have to be constantly put away in a place.

Nothing is supposed to be perfect, because life isn’t supposed to be perfect.

I guess that’s what makes it perfect.

And so, that’s what Christmas means to me. Warm. Lived in. Home.

Merry Christmas.
